Life coaching aims to help people achieve a greater sense of fulfillment in their life and career.

You can seek life coaching if you need to make a transition in your life or career, work on your personal growth and attain greater sense of well being. Working with a life coach can help you to clear your vision, set realistic and measurable goals, and create action plans to achieve them.

On the other hand, when you deal with a more serious challenge that affect your daily life functioning and sense of joy in life such as anxiety, stress, depression, addiction, relationship problems, self-esteem, trauma, anger management, psychotherapy will help you to relieve distress, create more adaptive constructive strategies of coping with different life issues, make a positive change in behaviors, thinking and overall functioning.  If you have thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that interferes with your relationships, self-esteem, daily life functioning, and your sense of fulfillment and happiness, you need to discuss it with a psychotherapist.

There is no one-size-fits all answer to this question. We face different struggles in life with different levels of severity which requires different levels of help. Therefore, it really depends on your situation. Care psychotherapy & counselling offers both of these services and based on your initial assessment session, you will get to know which service works best for your situation.

This is a common questions asked by many of our clients when they initially reach out. Sometimes life can get difficult and overwhelming and things seems out of our control. In these situations working with a therapist will allow you to find your balance, cope with stressors in a healthier and more effective way, develop healthy habits, set new goals, and find your way toward a meaningful life. There are different approaches to achieve these outcomes such as Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Somatic-based Therapies, Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Therapy session is a collaborative approach and your therapist will work with you to find the best method of therapy based on your concern or use a combination of different modalities if required.

The first step is to schedule a free 20 minutes phone call during which you will be able to get to know your therapist better. Afterwards you schedule your assessment appointment, during which, different aspects of your problem will be assessed, areas of growth and strengths will be identified and goals for the sessions will be determined. Then, along with your therapist, you will sketch short term and long term plans for achieving your wellbeing goals.

To summarize, getting started with the sessions involves two simple steps:

  1. Click here or reach out at info@psychotherapycounsellingservices.comto book your free 20 minutes initial call
  2. Schedule your assessment session, set your goals for the sessions, and define your plan

First of all, remember that it is totally natural to feel stressed and emotionally jumbled right before your first appointment. Following these steps can help you to reduce your stress, organize your mind, know your goals and expectations, and get most out of the first therapy session:

  1. One of the initial questions that your therapist will ask you in the first session of therapy is about what brought you to the therapy session. So to prepare yourself, get a note book exclusively for your therapy and record the bothersome thoughts and feelings you are experiencing in it. Try to recall when these symptoms started and what stressors at home or work environment triggers them.
  2. Another common question that you are asked about is your goals for the course of therapy. To prepare yourself for answering this question, think about your end goals. Imagine how your life would be if current struggles resolve. Free-writing can be a great tool to help you realize what you want to achieve. Dedicate a 15-30 minutes time slot, sit in a quite and comfortable space, and take note of whatever you want to achieve in your therapy. Then you can organize your notes and identify a high priority and immediate goals to discuss with your therapist.
  3. Try to free-up some space before and after your appointments, so you don’t feel rushed in your therapy session and have some time to process what you achieved in the first session.
  4. It is important to remember that therapy is a collaborative approach rather than a one-sided treatment. Therefore, see therapy as a team work attempt to help you overcome your current issues and improve your mental health and overall wellbeing.
  5. Attend the therapy sessions with an open mind and curiosity to explore new practices, and to learn new skills. Be honest about your experiences, thoughts, feelings and your expectations for therapy. Be open to apply new tools and techniques you learned in the session in your everyday life and take some notes about the outcomes.
